Common questions, clear answers

How often should I come in for a checkup?

Many patients come every six months, and some need a different schedule. Your dentist decides, based on your gums, your history and what they see, and agrees a schedule with you.

Do you take my insurance?

We bill PPO dental plans and file the claim for you, and our front desk checks your benefits before your first visit. Whether we are in network depends on your plan, so call us and we'll tell you before you book.

What if I don't have insurance?

You pay the fee for your visit, and we give you a written estimate in advance, when you book or when you ask. Financing is offered by third-party lenders. Approval and terms are set by the lender.

Do you accept Medicaid or CHIP?

Call us and we'll tell you plainly, before you book, whether we take your plan. How fees work explains how we handle each kind of coverage.

Will it hurt?

We numb the area first and check that it has taken before we begin. Raise your hand and we stop. If something hurts, tell us and we change what we're doing.

How often do I need X-rays and a cleaning?

Your dentist decides, based on your health and your history. We agree a schedule with you after your first visit and change it if your needs change.

What is a deep cleaning?

A cleaning below the gumline, which your dentist recommends after measuring your gums. It can take more than one visit, and we explain why before we start.

Do you see children, and from what age?

Yes. Our dentists see children, teens and adults, and Dr. Viera's focus is children's visits. Call us with your child's age and we'll describe what a first visit looks like.

What should I do in a dental emergency?

Call us and we'll tell you what we can do and when. If you have trouble breathing or swallowing, bleeding that won't stop, or swelling that spreads to your face or neck, call 911 first.

Do you offer sedation, and who gives it?

We offer local numbing and nitrous oxide. Your dentist gives them, with a trained assistant in the room, and we keep watching how you're doing. We don't promise you won't feel anything. If you need deeper sedation, we refer you to a practice that provides it.

Can I get a written estimate before treatment?

Yes. After your exam your dentist lists the treatment, the visits it takes and the fee, and our front desk goes through your benefits with you. You can ask for the estimate in writing at any time.

How do I cancel or change a visit?

Call or message us as early as you can and we'll find another time. Ask about our cancellation policy when you book.
